Children from eight shelters under the care of the Archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra are now protected against personal accidents, thanks to the Nacional Vida Segura Foundation, which delivered 240 insurance policies during a celebration held at the Don Bosco Home in honor of Children’s Day.

José Luis Camacho, President of the Foundation, emphasized the importance of protecting children and ensuring their safety in all activities they participate in. “We know that these homes provide a nurturing environment for healthy development; we want to contribute to their physical protection,” he stated.

In his speech, Camacho described himself as a lifelong companion of these children. “I’m a former Don Bosco boy, and it’s a blessing to be able to give back to the place where so many young people have been formed,†he said. He also highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to the protection and well-being of children, with the goal of building a safer and more promising future for them.

Father Gustavo, Director of Don Bosco, spoke with emotion on behalf of the children. “We are grateful, moving forward with trust in our hearts… These children are the future and hope of our society,†he said. Monsignor René Leigue, Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, echoed the sentiment: “The support you are providing is invaluable; we all know how essential health is to a good education.â€

Julio César Caballero, Director of the Nacional Vida Segura Foundation, detailed the benefits of the initiative: Each insurance policy provides 24/7 coverage, 365 days a year, anywhere in the world. It includes reimbursement for medical expenses and a lump sum for accidents resulting in partial or total disability of the child.

It is worth noting that in the city of Santa Cruz, the Catholic Church supports 900 children across 34 shelters. The homes benefiting from this initiative are: Casa de Acogida Nazaria Ignacia, Hogar San Lorenzo, Centro Fortaleza, Hogar Madre Francisca Casci, Hogar Mercado Aguado, Hogar de Niños Santa Cruz, Centro de Formación para Madres Adolescentes Madre María, and Proyecto Don Bosco.

The event was attended by Mario Mazzoleni, Head of the Episcopal Commission for Social Service Works – Santa Cruz; Nélida Gamual, Director of Hogar San Lorenzo; Karina Rocha, Coordinator of Proyecto Don Bosco; and Jaime Rozenman, General Manager of Madisa, a food production and distribution company that donated breakfast items for the children.
