27 June, 2026

The work by journalist and writer Rildo Barba contains 25 fables featuring animals from the fauna of eastern Bolivia.

Hundreds of children will be able to engage with reading and strengthen fundamental values thanks to “My Little Book of Fables,” the latest work by Santa Cruz-born journalist and writer Rildo Barba, published with the support of the National Safe Life Foundation. The book was presented at the 27th Santa Cruz de la Sierra International Book Fair, held between May and June of this year.

The publication brings together 25 stories featuring animals from the fauna of eastern Bolivia, including the urina, the capybara, the armadillo, the ñacurutú, the tapetí, and the sicurí. In an imaginary universe, these characters experience adventures that convey lessons about generosity, empathy, honesty, gratitude, solidarity, and compassion, among other essential values for human coexistence.

For the National Safe Life Foundation, whose work has education as one of its fundamental pillars, this initiative represents a valuable tool for fostering a love of reading from childhood. The institution emphasizes that the book allows children to learn values in an entertaining way, first accompanied by their parents or guardians and, later, through independent reading.

As part of its social commitment, the Foundation will soon distribute free copies of *My Little Book of Fables* to children’s shelters. The author will also take the book to municipal libraries in the various districts of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and to libraries in other provinces, with the aim of bringing reading to more children. During the book launch, dozens of children already had the opportunity to enjoy the stories by receiving a free copy.

Barba is currently the editor of Okey Bolivia magazine. He has worked in media and publishing projects, conducting interviews with prominent figures in literature, architecture, the arts, and other fields. Mi libringo de fabulangas is his fourth book.
